Welcome to my blog. You never really know what to expect to find here. Some days, I might think I'm funny. Other days, I'm a little more serious. Sometimes, I'm just sharing a friend with you. Stick around and see what comes up next.
While it seemed for awhile there, the most searched for term during 2012 might have been “apocalypse” or even, “end-of-the-world,” no, it isn't either. The number one search term for the year 2012, in searches on Google.com is the word “Facebook.”
Not only have more people looked up the word Facebook, than any other (dominating at 4.13 percent according to Experian) the term itself is now the top searched term for the past four years running. Might they remain on top from now on?
On the business horizon, it doesn't seem like any enterprise is soon to take the position from “the kingmaker,” Facebook. But ultimately, all good things do – at the very least – change. One possibility is that the social network will perhaps become an integrated part of the background scenery of life. If society were only a bit more wired, Facebook could end up becoming the central hub of daily life. Civilization will refuse to become so hum-drum as to constantly stay connected to the computer. The mobile market is already heavily-integrated with Facebook, as it is – and we're only now discovering our new reliance on these latest toys called smart-phones.
Another two points byexperian , mentions also how, during 2012, one-word searches increased as a trend as well. Along with this, the second-most searched-for term is Google. Next, it was YouTube and Yahoo! - all search engines of a sort. With this input, it seems logical to assume the 33 percent higher inquiry for the term “Facebook” might be at least partially due to “newbies” logging on for the first time ever and only now learning how to find the social network on their own, without the help of any engine.
Out of the top ten search terms, only one was not either a search engine, email or YouTube – and even it is a search engine of sorts these days – eBay. Factoring this in leads for a fairly reasonable conclusion is that most of the search engine activity for 2012 is inexperienced novices learning how to find their way around online. But, once these newer, inexperienced Internet surfer learns their way around online more comfortably, we'll get back to tracking the true, popular attraction of the Internet to now-mainstream America: kitten videos.
It never pays to buy into every rumor on Facebook. It's bad enough when someone believes everything they read on the site. It's even worse when someone lets those Facebook rumors make them angry without checking out the accuracy of those rumors. But to go and make a threat to President Obama and his children like California politician Jules Manson did? That's just plain stupid.
First, it's criminal to call for the assassination of the president. Secondly, his children? Come on...his kids? What the hell did they do? And thirdly, to be so pissed off about a Facebook rumor that's just so...inaccurate. Wow. You big dummy.
Well, we're all human. And I wanted to give him the chance to explain himself and what he said. So I sent him a few questions. They are as follows:
'Do you regret the statement? And would you like a chance to rephrase?'
'What motivated you to make such a statement?'
'Do you feel Ron Paul supports your position? And more importantly, would you consider dropping your public support of Congressman Paul to spare him the embarrassment?'
'In case the Secret Service does come to talk with you on this subject, how will you deal with it? Will you try to fight any charges in court?'
'Also, as a dad myself, I really feel you should leave the Obama kids out of all of this. What were you thinking to mention his kids as well? Why drag his children into it?'
'In regards to these statements, on the off chance you do end up facing charges, will you indemnify Ron Paul by stating clearly, your statements do not reflect his position?'”
Thus were my questions. Jules chose to make one solid statement to me, rather than answer each question independently. So, I'm going to share his reply just as he sent it to me. I feel this is the fairest way possible to allow him to defend himself. Other than the combining of individual messages into one paragraph, no other changes have been made to his words. I can provide screen-shots if necessary.
JM: “Sure thing Donald Pennington
Thank you for allowing me to respond to this.
You are all correct. I have since had time to think about what I wrote. I went way too far but it was only an emotional over-reaction to learning that our president had signed away some of our constitutional protections. That is all it was and I meant no harm to come to anyone. For this I apologize to all you good people especially to all black Americans (including the president and his family) who may have been offended at my racial epithets or taken my statements as genuine. I also accept whatever comes my way.
I am a very emotionally driven person and often react before I have had time to calm down. I realize that nothing good can come from such statements. Again I wish to stress that I have many black friends who may find my disgusting statements offensive including many other black people I have never met. For this I deeply regret. I also wish to stress to the president himself and his family my deepest regret and apology.
However, we MUST remain very vocal about what this government is becoming. This is the only land that I know and love. It is why I am so vocal about it. If I had not cared enough, I would have remained quiet like most people.
I do not intend on ever stopping my very vocal dissent about its oppressive policies. It is my hope that this issue may have awakened all Americans to the steady erosion of our constitutional protections. This is the only thing people should be incensed about. Not my careless emotionally driven words on a facebook [sic] page.
My statements have nothing to do with Ron Paul or the Libertarian Party or anything else political. They were really me being human in a very disgusting way as most of us are guilty of sometimes in our lives. This was one such moment for me. I really do not wish for this to hurt his campaign as he really is the right man for the job.” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In summary of the discussion with Jules Manson, I'll still disagree with his use of the racial slur, the threats of violence against the president and the wholly unnecessary comment about the president's kids.
But everyone, even the most depraved of mass-murderers on trial, get a chance to defend themselves or at least explain their side. And this was yours, Jules Manson. (I'm not saying you are a depraved mass murderer. I'm just saying even they get a chance for defense.)
I will, however, say that you are a dumbass. If this is how you react in anger – to throw racial slurs, threaten violence and attack children – then I am glad for the people of California that you blew your chance in politics. I'm also quite glad you exposed the real you in such a public way, before anyone else gets dragged into your secret room-of-stupid-bullshit-within-your-head. I'm also taking you off of my friends list.
Don't be so quick to believe silly Facebook rumors from other stupid people. Facebook is just like any other community, in that, the majority of the populace are just a bunch of big dummies – big, fat, thoughtless dummies. And you fit right in.
A buddy of mine offered to share my blog with his 5,000 Fb friends, in return for sharing his ebook link for free. Seemed like a fair enough deal, so here's where my buddy is giving away, absolutely free, an interesting topic to any website owner, to say the least.
It's quite the read if the need to bring thousands of visitors to your website is a big concern. Of course, who would put up a site without wanting to get thousands and thousands of visitors? Millions? Why not?
http://www.quickregister.net/backlinksfb/101waystogetbacklinks.pdf http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif While his ideas sound solid, of course, I'm only now deciding on my approach to using what I have here. At this time, this blog is showing 217 unique (Within a day) visitors. That's a far cry from a million live, unique (per 24 hours), US/UK/CA/AU/NZ/JP/NL/Iceland visitors. There's only really one way to reach those numbers: Each visitor only help me find two or three other visitors, who would do the same, apiece. If each reader would only share us on any social networking platforms they could, in the next half hour after coming to see us, We'd reach a million visitors within a single day! Could you help me to do that?
Facebook, look out! It seems your niche is being threatened by your biggest rival to date! Now, not only can middle-aged housewives everywhere waste the day away playing games on Facebook, but Google+ is offering games too!
According to the release on The Wall Street Journal online, the newest kid on the block is aiming to tear your playhouse down. Zynga is not being loyal here. It seems they're offering their version of Texas Hold 'em Poker to players over there, too! But they're not alone. Disney's Playdom, and EA Games is in on it, also. GAWD! Is NOBODY loyal anymore?
Just when Facebook thought they had the technologically inept market all wrapped up, Google+ is also in the market for advertising data of the gullible. Will the madness never end?
This is good for bored consumers, though. Now, after a day of throwing away all of the player credits one can get on Facebook, now, they can just go get more on the competitor's site. See? Everybody (but Facebook) wins! Yay!
Just to show the folks at Facebook that the Big G doesn't like other dogs pissing in their yard, Google is offering to let those gaming companies get a better price on all of that nommy data at a better rate. Who knew competition was so fierce in the world of free games?
So, Facebook fans, do you ever see those little quizzes and status update games where you're asked to answer "fun" questionnaires giving out details of your past? They're usually shared as notes and come from other friends who've done them too. They're often given the subject of "Getting to know you," or other equally creepy titles. The questions are about your elementary school, what street you lived on as a child, and other detailed personal information. They seem innocuous at first.
I'm just not comfortable with them - never have been. When I see these types of questionnaires, I always tell my friends they're not good to do. It's just never made sense to me why anyone would want to freely give out such details as what might get asked during a credit application, or for other security purposes. My well-meaning, fun-loving friends have often told me I'm just "paranoid" for not joining in. I've been told the information asked for isn't useful and won't cause any harm.
Well, call me paranoid all you like. Because now, I only hope I'm paranoid enough. In an AP report, carried on The Washington Times, we find the story of 24-year-old George Bronk of California. He's just been sentenced to four years for his acts of stalking Facebook "friends," and using clues garnered, to take over their...go here for the rest.
Seeing a blog post about a possible cure for cancer on Facebook caught my eye, of course. The sheer numbers of cases of cancer in my family made me look. The hope of some new promise of a hopeful treatment for cancer made me read.
So tickled was I to read something which might be good, I saved the future search term “dichloroacetate,” as a status update on Facebook. I knew a Facebook status update would never go away. I wonder how many people thought I was just talking to myself, again.
So readers know just what I'm talking about, Here's the article. Those of us who've written for other sites, recognize a hub page. So, it should be obvious that not a lot of vetting the details of the report are going on. For the sake of others who perhaps have not written for a variety of sites themselves, Hub pages is a web site ran by bored old housewives, who pretend they're more intelligent than they likely are.
I'm not saying they're not “nice.” I'm saying they allow bad information onto their pages, unaware. With that being said, I'm still willing to read the report on a possible cancer cure. But, having looked into the piece on dichloroacetate as a cure for cancer, I'm heavily disappointed.
The information shared is sloppy, untrue, inaccurate, and just plain shitty. How's that for a take? Oh. I'm sorry. Is that wording offensive? Well, imagine the emotions of someone hoping for once, someone put up some truly worthwhile “alternative news.”
DCA is a possible lead, towards a successful strike against cancer. And according to PZ Myers, it just might warrant a bit of research. Of course, that'll be more likely in the case of non-industry supported research. But that's just because a product like DCA isn't patentable, and big pharma does deserve a return on their investment. They're in business like everyone else.
Here's to hoping that, before you share that next article on Facebook about a cure for cancer, you take a second and check if they're on a credible news site, of any sort, and then check the information itself. Too many times, a piece of crap is passed on as a piece of information, thanks only to a headline. Your IQ should be THIS HIGH before clicking the “share” button on Facebook.
The Only Facebook Vampire Wars Cheat In The Game by Donald Pennington Face Book Vampire Wars Doesn’t Offer Many Cheats. Use This One While It Lasts!
The Facebook version of Vampire Wars Doesn’t offer many cheat codes, does it?
The folks at Zynga most certainly do not offer many cheat codes at all on Facebook Vampire Wars. Since we the players of the game can’t put any coding of our own into the game we have to find other ways to eradicate opposition, make blood, and build minions fast. The strategy is simple: If no one’s stopping you so far, do it!
In trying this over the last few months, only one cheat has come to light for anyone of myself, or my 1100 clan. It’s a simple tool for those of us creatures of the night on the net. You’ll like it.
The one and only Facebook Vampire Wars cheat known to exist…until somebody else finds another:
When a player/character Nosferatu finds another player able to be beaten, and worthwhile in blood, the trick is to rip bat-boy (or girl) to pieces. Needing it to be quick and knowing how slowly Zynga’s Facebook Vampire Wars’ pages can take to load usually pre-empts any real shredding.
Once a worthy victim is found, go to the other player/character’s nocturnal profile, and right-click from the ‘attack’ tab. How many times can you attack someone in a minute? That depends: How many times can you right click, with sufficient rage and health?
Why tear someone apart on Facebook Vampire Wars with a cheat like this?
Picking up two or three million in blood isn’t unheard of in a minute. This is especially true when someone’s lucky enough to find a worthy victim on their first try! We’re not talking about a game where two players want to go picking flowers together. We’re talking about a game wherein players pretend to be a supernatural, mythical, destructive force! Why be nice? There’s plenty of time to leave a “Nuttin’ poisonal!’ on their clan wall after you’ve made the loot! Play Facebook Vampire Wars for real!
What do you do with all of that blood on Facebook Vampire Wars earned from this cheat?
In spite of the bad advice of many un-named players around, banking is still a good idea, compared to being one of the vampires hunted down this way by another. Better to lose 10% once than to be a constant source of entertainment on Facebook Vampire wars! Save it up to buy all the law firms you can by ten at a time! It’s all about the blood on Facebook Vampire Wars!
There are a variety of fellow writers online Some are social butterflies. Some are hermits. Others are constantly out there, not just helping to promote their fellow writers, but also to 'uplift' others.
The piece I'm introducing you to today is by one of those latter. She seems in tune with when a joke, or a friendly comment, or help are needed.
In this piece done by my friend Jennifer, new writers will find the sort of suggestions they'll need to make money as a writer. Wouldn't you know...the information is free. Give her a read!8 Tips for New Writers by Jennifer Wagner
If you are new to Associated Content, let me take a moment to personally welcome you. One thing you will quickly realize about AC is that the majority of the people on it are friendly and willing to help. When I first joined AC, I remember feeling a bit intimidated by the amount of successful writers I saw, and was afraid to ask for help from anyone. Let me assure you that there is NO REASON to feel intimidated here. AC is a fun website that offers a real money making opportunity, and the atmosphere is friendly and non-competitive.
I'd like to also point out, that although I am referring to you as a writer, Associated Content can't seem to decide what we are. When I first signed up, we were "content producers". Then, Associated Content changed our status to "source". After many complaints, we became "contributors". With Associated Content, the terminology seems to be ever changing, but in my mind....we are all writers.
With that said, let's begin.
Tips for new writers on AC # 1
Don't be intimidated
Jump right in and submit your first piece. Whether you decide to submit it for upfront payment and wait while it's reviewed, or submit it for display only and see it published immediately, get busy and start writing! If you work hard and write well, people will begin to notice you. On Associated Content, the staff is very supportive and encouraging and they recognize your hard work.
Tips for new writers on AC # 2
Be active in the AC community
When I first joined Associated Content, I spent a lot of time reading the work of other writers and leaving comments. Once I became comfortable, I sent private messages introducing myself, and I followed and subscribed to a lot of writers, and I let them know I was doing it. Most (but not all) of the writers on AC will return the favor and subscribe to your work as well. If they are simply overloaded with subscriptions, they will usually, at the very least, add you to their favorites....Go here for the rest!
Are you bored? Are you alone? Are you alone because you're funnier looking than a meth-head trying to find a job? Are you weirder than a four dollar bill? Are you one of those people who gets along fine with your friends . . . it's everyone else's friends you hate? Does it stink to be you? Are you the guy (or gal) who owes FaceBook friends?
Do strangers avoid you? Have you ever noticed when you're walking across the street homeless people pack up their cardboard signs and cross into traffic to avoid you? Witness any Mormon Missionaries fleeing anytime recently? (Why are you bitching and whining by the way? Hmm...)
Well if there's still a half an ounce of mature, sociable, civilized spirit left within you, why not join FaceBook Stinks2bme and we'll all help you drive the remainder of it out! At FaceBook Stinks2bme , you get to lay out your ragging, whining, sobby sob story to us all. When you're done you enjoy the benefits of a loving, kind, caring, and helpful support group.
Why would that stink? Well . . . It wouldn't. What stinks is that you also develop a crowd that comes along and torments you. Better put your "sense of humor" on under yer kilt there boy! FaceBook Stinks2bme members have a habit of coming upon you from behind and trying to slap you there in a figure of speech.
Since we are all well too aware of how difficult life can be, we have all developed something of a skin that protects us from certain 'barbs.' The beauty of a group like FaceBook Stinks2bme is that members get a chance to exercise that part of their own individual psyche.
Alison Lewis, founder of FaceBook Stinks2bme tells me that she and a few friends were out of any sort of worthwhile entertainment; shall we say . . . bored? (If I say too much I just know the woman will kill me.) 'Alison and Pals' wanted some sort of entertainment that wasn't the same old blase-blah, yet, didn't cost any of them money. So a FaceBook group was just the ticket! She continues on telling me the inner workings of the group only upon both of us receiving clear confirmation of FaceBook status . . . the secrecy of which is so well guarded that we never even mention it.
Alison also taught me that Stinks2bme is approximately two years old as of this release/post. The group motto was: "Rebuilding shattered lives one stupid comment at a time." Seems to work. As an "Exclusive" to this publication, the new group oath:
Standing with proper posture, raise your right hand, and turn your palm in. Give a hearty one-middle-fingered-salute, and repeat the words: "On my honor, I shall do my duty, to tell you just like it is, whether you like it, or not."
Impressive stuff. Would any reader not agree? Who on earth would want to miss out on this?
The focus seemed to remind me of just how beneficial it would be to all people, were everyone to have a place to go, to remind us of our own foibles, and fallibility. So on that note, I visited FaceBook Stinks2bme and have begun my own saga of the Bald Man. If you can find it I hope you enjoy yourself. Ideally, it would be better, were you to post yours. We want to read it. Give us something to laugh at--I mean with--you about.
FaceBook Stinks2bme might not to be to everyone's tastes, but that's actually one more advantage of the group too, though. On the bottom-right-hand corner, there's a link for those who feel that, life stinks and it isn't funny. The folks who built this group understands that sometimes life's one of the toughest things to go through. We're just here trying to make each other laugh. Nothing said on FaceBook Stinks2bme is ever to be held against someone off of the group. Be mature!
Even though, at the moment of posting this share, I'm only one of the personalities dwelling within our author tonight, my favorite part of FaceBook Stinks2bme is the 'Mental Breakdown Prevention' area. One click and you might just find yourself in near-accident mode from laughter quick!
FaceBook Stinks2bme offers a little more of the 'brown-out' time, as opposed to a personality ending up in complete 'blackout' stage. Anyone that deals with any level of stress in any areas of their lives, whether it's work, relationships, or FaceBook, will find it fun and educational and freeing all at the same time. It's like push-ups for your sense of humor. Who can find something wrong with that?
