From DrHurd; Why the "Fiscal Cliff" is Really a Myth

Lately, we've all heard the "debates" over tax increases here in the US. And while the media is hyping Obama's plan as our one and only means of salvation - and while even Republicans are avoiding the harsh truths of our economic conditions - at least Dr Hurd is still speaking out.

So, I'll share him with you, my dear readers, in the hopes that at least some of you will pull your fingers out of your ears and stop with that silly "LALALALALAAAAA Not LISTENING" bullshit so many of us are doing. Enjoy:

All the talk of a “fiscal cliff” come January 1 is misleading.

It implies that there’s something politicians can do to avert disaster in the new year – and that if they do it, all will be well.

The fact is: All is not well. The reason isn’t the sequestration law with supposed spending cuts and tax increases to take effect.

The reason is that the government is spending and borrowing way, way beyond what the private economy has the ability to produce – even if taxes are raised.

You can debate whether it’s worse to let America “go over the fiscal cliff” or to make some kind of bipartisan deal (stacked in favor of pro-Big Government spending and taxation, as always).

It doesn’t matter. Either way, Americans are left with the reality that its government spends and borrows way beyond its means. Tax increases will not help this. Tax increases on “the rich” will help this least of all. This is because “the rich” are the ones who disproportionately spend and invest in the economy, whether it’s job creation, investment in stocks or private enterprises, or spending on luxuries. I wouldn't be so upset about the very real possibility our current President Barack Obama were probably going to be re-elected because he had managed some improvements in the overall health of America, but he hasn't. It wouldn't yank my chain that Obama will likely sit out his next four as a lame duck president, spewing his socialist agenda as far and as wide as possible, were it due to any sort of positive achievement on his end.

No, what has me wrankled about President Barack Obama possibly winning the presidential election of 2012 is it will be due to no viable political opponent coming from the GOP. They're just not going to introduce an electable enough candidate, who is going to have the good sense to let the gay rights, abortion rights, or other religiously-transfixed topics go, and get down to business.

Just as soon as a presidential candidate from the Republican camp steps forward, the third word out of his mouth is something about pleasing the Lord®, or “defending this great nation” from the “perils of Satan®,” or some crap like that. How about an opponent against the business-hating Barack H Obama, who understands principles like individual liberty, the free market, and who doesn't play with imaginary friends, as a grown up?

What if we, as a people, began demanding the political parties of the US advance a candidate to out-campaign Obama, and not try to pander to delusional extremists of any special interest? What a thought, huh.

I've already griped about this once.

President Obama: Fix National Healthcare Before It's Broken!

Please read this carefully: I'm no supporter of President Obama. Anyone who's read me over these last couple of years and odd days has seen me publish pieces that rated an occasional angry response. I've called President Obama a various amount of names, along with all other politicians included, unapologetically. None of that changes.

But seeing that real-world Life is sometimes all about making deals with the devil it seems only fitting to try an approach at ensuring that a game played, is a game won. If nationalized health care is going to happen, then I'd like to see it be functional. If we Americans are going to have socialized health care, then we Americans need to show the world, how American health care can be.

Since it's not in my hands to determine how anyone else's world should be, but for mine, then all I'm asking for right now is the opportunity to make one simple (not necessarily easy) suggestion: Make it work.
